artist statement
Born in 2000, Alan Shorey is a full time art educator and multidisciplinary artist based in Chattanooga, TN.
Primarily a painter, Alan's work weaves together narratives of the queer experience in the south with religious trauma and the often unseen intricacies of nature. He expresses himself through creative investigations of ecology and sustainability. In performance art, Alan blends together elements of movement with gestural markmaking, embracing intuition and the body.
